All sessions take place at Discovery Family Therapy, South Perth. Full location details and arrival instructions will be provided in your confirmation email.

Question 2

What do participants need to bring?

• A fully charged device capable of running Minecraft Bedrock Edition
 • Charging cables
 • Minecraft must be pre-installed, updated, and logged in before arrival
 • A charger and a labelled water bottle

Cancellations and Refunds

Accepted Answer

Cancellation terms are provided at booking. DFT reserves the right to modify or cancel sessions if required for safety or operational reasons. All participant cancellations made within 48 hours of the event will incur a full 100% cancellation fee with no refund.

Question 4

Will children be playing online with strangers?

Accepted Answer

No. Gameplay is restricted to a closed, local multiplayer environment managed by the facilitators. No external players or public servers are used.

Who supervises the event?

Sessions are facilitated by trained Discovery Family Therapy staff with experience in youth programs, behaviour support, and digital-safety education. Staff hold Working With Children Checks (WWCC).

What skills will my child develop?

Is lunch or food provided?

No. Please ensure your child has eaten prior to the session. Water breaks are scheduled throughout.

What if my child becomes overwhelmed or anxious?

Facilitators use a supportive, low-pressure approach. If a participant needs a break, we provide a safe, supervised space. If a child cannot continue, parents/guardians may be contacted for early pickup.

Can parents stay during the event?

Accepted Answer

Parents may drop off and pick up. Staying onsite is optional in reception, but the playing area is for participants only to maintain group focus and session flow.

Duty of Care

Discovery Family Therapy (DFT) provides a safe, supervised environment consistent with WA child-safety expectations. Staff maintain line-of-sight supervision throughout the session and follow DFT’s Child Safe framework.

Staff Requirements
All facilitators involved with participants hold:
Working With Children Check (WWCC)
Relevant professional qualifications or youth-program experience
Training in digital safety and behaviour management

Supervision Ratios
Group size is limited to 8 participants to allow close supervision and effective risk management.

Digital Safety Controls
Only local multiplayer is used; no connection to public servers
Chat functions are limited to the group
Device use is monitored
No screenshots or recordings of other participants are permitted
Participants are reminded of respectful digital conduct
Device-Related Risk Management
Parents are responsible for ensuring devices are:
In good working condition
Charged and updated
Logged in to Minecraft Bedrock
DFT is not responsible for device damage, malfunction, or data loss.

Behaviour & Participation Expectations
Participants are expected to:
Follow staff instructions
Engage respectfully with peers

Play within agreed rules and safety guidelines
Use devices appropriately and solely for the program
If behaviour places others at risk or disrupts the group, DFT may request early collection.

Medical or Additional Support Needs
Parents must disclose any relevant medical, behavioural, neurodivergent, or support needs during registration so we can plan appropriate adjustments.

Emergency & First Aid
DFT staff follow emergency response procedures for the premises, including:

Evacuation routes
First-aid protocols

Incident and hazard reporting
At least one facilitator onsite holds First Aid certification.

Pick-Up & Drop-Off Safety
Parents/guardians must sign children in and out. Children will only be released to authorised adults listed at registration.

Privacy & Photography
DFT complies with WA privacy standards. No photographs or recordings of participants will be taken or shared without explicit parent/guardian consent.
